Postural and Gait Analysis

Postural Analysis

Postural Analysis is one of the powerful and effective ways to identify musculoskeltal imbalances that lead to injury and performance problems.  This analysis dictates the exercise prescription.  Every personal trainer, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and coach has to use to accurately evaluate and prescribe any exercise program.  Make sure the you only use a trainer or therapist that performs a detailed postural assessment.  Postural assessments like other assessments need to be done on a regular basis.  Due to proprietary reasons we can only show or explain our protocol for this assessment.

Gait Analysis

Gait analysis is another way of evaluating musculoskeletal imbalances.  In some ways it is more effective than a static postural analysis, because the more the dynamic an activity is, the more it will draw out compensatory movements.  We perform a gait analysis on all of your clients.  It is especially important for athletes that are involved in running sports or conditioning.  We can analyze a running form to correct imbalances and technique issues.  Gait analysis are video taped either on a treadmill or on a track.

The video below is a slow motion gait analysis performed on a track.

The following video is a running model alternating between neutral, pronated, and supinated feet positions.
